Kevin Spagnolo plays the clarinet as if it were a human voice in disguise.

There is something naturally theatrical in his artistry: colour, agility, charm, melancholy, wit — all held together by a musical instinct that makes virtuosity feel effortless rather than exhibited. His debut album Façades, recorded with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Michael Collins, already revealed the artistic world he inhabits: one of shifting emotions, hidden characters and the many masks through which music speaks.

In 2018, at only twenty-two, Spagnolo won First Prize at the Geneva International Music Competition, becoming the youngest clarinetist ever to receive the award. The distinction immediately placed him among the most compelling clarinet voices of his generation, opening the way to recital, chamber music and concerto invitations across major festivals, halls and orchestral seasons worldwide.

As a soloist, he has appeared with the Brussels Philharmonic, Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Orchestre des Nations, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic, Orchestra della Toscana, Orchestra Sinfonica di Torino, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana and Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra, working with conductors including M. Nesterowicz, Pierre Bleuse, Martin Fröst, Nil Venditti, Alessandro Bonato and Diego Ceretta, among others.

Recent highlights include his debut with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey in Ankara in Nielsen’s Clarinet Concerto and also a tour in Spain with Orchestra della Toscana under Diego Ceretta, perfomring Weber Clarinet Concerto No.2.

A sought-after chamber musician, Spagnolo has collaborated with artists including Beatrice Rana, Emmanuel Pahud, Stefano Bollani, Liya Petrova, Chloë Ji-yeong Mun, Théo Fouchenneret, Aurélien Pascal, Lorenzo Soulès, Lise Berthaud, Sergey Ostrovsky, Ophélie Gaillard and Yubeen Kim, as well as ensembles such as Quatuor Voce, Szymanowski Quartet, Quartetto Guadagnini, Quartetto Prometeo and Quatuor Terpsycordes. He frequently performs in duo with pianist Simone Rugani.

His performances have taken him to the Berliner Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Rheingau Musik Festival, Mariinsky Theatre, Solti Hall in Budapest, Teatro Verdi Firenze, Festival Radio France Montpellier, Classiche Forme, Festival de Jeunes Talents in Paris, Rencontres Musicales de Champéry, France Musique Auditorium in Paris and Filarmonica di Rovereto, with broadcasts on Radio France, Bayerischer Rundfunk, RAI Radio 3 and Radio Suisse Romande.
